Lake Wyangan South - NSW

With widespread flooding lashing parts of Australia in late 2022, Millewa Pumping were tasked to install temporary pumps to drain water from at-capacity catchments to protect property and infrastructure.

Lake Wyangan is located 10 minutes Northwest of Griffith in the NSW Riverina. While typically divided into a North and South Lake - divided by a Causeway - continued rainfall merged the two lakes.

Installation of a large pump to move water out of Lake Wyangan South into the Tharbogang Wetlands.

With continuous rainfall over South-Eastern Australia, The Lake Wyangan Catchment Area was at capacity - risking damaging flooding to the surrounding area. With key infrastructure such as adjacent roads already submerged and water continuing to spread, time was a critical factor.
