Mildura Bridge - VIC

With widespread flooding lashing parts of Australia in late 2022, Millewa Pumping were tasked to install temporary pumps to drain water from at-capacity catchments to protect property and infrastructure.

Our region stretches from Nyah, in the east, to the South Australian Border along the Victorian side of the Murray River, and down to towns including Birchip in the south, covering 39,939 square kilometres.

Objective:
To facilitate the efficient movement of water from the already overstressed Mildura stormwater system back into the Murray River, it is essential to mitigate the extensive impacts of flooding. This initiative aims to safeguard residential properties, commercial establishments, and critical infrastructure from the detrimental consequences associated with flood events. By successfully managing water flows, we can enhance environmental resilience and ensure the stability of local communities in the face of severe weather conditions.

Equipment Used:
4 x 12 inch pumps

300m of 12 inch layflat and appropriate suction line

1 x 20 inch pump

50m of 20 inch delivery line and appropriate suction line

Project Outcomes:
Millewa Pumping played a pivotal role in preventing severe flooding in Mildura. By effectively managing water movement, the company ensured that local businesses, homes, and infrastructure were safeguarded from potential damage. The proactive measures taken by Millewa Pumping not only protected residential areas but also minimized the environmental impact that such flooding could have caused. Their commitment to efficient water management has proven essential in maintaining the community's safety and resilience against natural emergencies.
